Who we are

A family-run carrier that answers the phone at 2 a.m. — and actually fixes the problem.

Alpha Trans was founded in Brampton in 2002 by the Saini family. Two decades on, we are still family-owned, still based on East Drive, and still doing what we have always done: running our own fleet between Canada and the USA with a level of operational care that brokerages cannot match at scale.

Most carriers our size have long since become brokers with trucks on the side. We went the other way — and our customers have stayed 10, 15, even 20 years because of it.

  • Asset-based: ~200 company tractors and 300 trailers, never a load board
  • Bonded in both Canada and the USA, with six border certifications
  • One dispatcher owns your load end to end, around the clock

The equipment

Every tractor. Every trailer. Ours.

Asset-based capacity is not a slogan here — it is the whole operating model. When the spot market tightens before a retail peak or an automotive line goes down at midnight, the truck is ours to send, not someone else's to find.

  • 200 tractors — late-model, ELD-compliant, satellite-tracked, maintained on a 15,000 km cycle at our own Brampton shop.
  • 150 dry vans — 53-ft tandem-axle, air-ride, logistic-post and swing-door configurations for freight that cannot take a rough ride.
  • 150 multi-temp reefers — −20 °F to 70 °F, continuous logging, drift alerts, and CFIA/FDA-compliant cold chain end to end.

Why shippers stay

The advantages that keep freight on our trucks.

Asset-based capacity, trusted-trader clearance, and a dispatcher who answers — the reasons our customer relationships outlast most carriers in this lane.

Owned, not brokered

Roughly 200 company tractors and 300 trailers. We do not subcontract your freight to whoever the load board coughs up — capacity we can actually stand behind.

Six border certifications

CT-PAT, FAST, PIP, SmartWay, HAZMAT, and CSA. Your freight clears as a known, low-risk shipment in a dedicated lane the border already trusts.

Bonded in both countries

Canadian and U.S. bonded carrier. In-bond shipments cross without third-party bonding arrangements or the delay that comes with them.

24/7 live dispatch

One number, and a real person answers — weekends, holidays, 3 a.m. No call tree, no voicemail, no ticket queue between you and your load.

In-house maintenance

Preventive maintenance on a 15,000 km cycle at our own Brampton shop. Fewer breakdowns, fewer service failures, fewer surprises for your supply chain.

Family-owned since 2002

The Saini family started Alpha Trans and still runs it. You are working with operators, not a portfolio company optimizing for next quarter.

Trusted-trader certified · Bonded in Canada and the USA

  • CT-PAT certified — Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism
  • SmartWay Transport Partner — US EPA
  • PIP certified — Partners in Protection, CBSA
  • Bonded carrier — Canada and the USA
  • ACI / eManifest compliant — Advance Commercial Information
  • FMCSA registered — Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

We could have become a broker with trucks on the side. We went the other way — and that is exactly why our customers have stayed for two decades.

Cross-border freight, answered

Is Alpha Trans an asset-based carrier or a freight broker?

Asset-based. We own and operate roughly 200 company tractors and 300 trailers out of Brampton, Ontario, driven by FAST-approved operators we employ. Your freight never gets posted to a load board or handed to a subcontractor we found that morning — the capacity we quote is the capacity that shows up.

Which border crossings does Alpha Trans run, and how do you avoid delays?

We run daily lanes through Windsor–Detroit, Fort Erie–Buffalo, and Sarnia–Port Huron, with quick access from Brampton via the 407, 410, and QEW. CT-PAT, FAST, and PIP trusted-trader status moves our freight in dedicated, pre-screened lanes, and our ACI/eManifest paperwork is transmitted before the truck reaches the booth — so loads clear at the border instead of waiting at it.

What types of freight can you move between Canada and the USA?

Full truckload (FTL) and less-than-truckload (LTL) dry van, multi-temp refrigerated from −20 °F to 70 °F, dedicated fleet on your recurring lanes, and team-driver expedited for time-critical, just-in-time freight. We are HAZMAT-certified and bonded in both countries, with warehousing and cross-dock at our 20,000 sq ft Brampton facility.

How fast can Alpha Trans turn around a quote?

Most quotes are answered in under an hour during office hours, and dispatch is staffed 24/7 — including weekends and holidays. One phone number reaches a real dispatcher who knows our fleet, our lanes, and your load; there is no call tree, no voicemail queue, and no broker passing you along.

Is your refrigerated freight compliant for food and pharma?

Yes. Our 150 multi-temp reefers log temperature continuously from pickup to proof of delivery, alert dispatch on any drift off setpoint, and deliver a full printout with the freight. Reefer washouts between loads are standard, and our cold chain meets CFIA and FDA requirements so it holds up to any receiver or auditor.

How long has Alpha Trans been in business, and who owns it?

Alpha Trans was founded in Brampton in 2002 by the Saini family and is still family-owned and family-run from the same East Drive headquarters more than two decades later. Many of our shipper relationships have run 10, 15, even 20 years — because we stayed an operating carrier instead of becoming a broker with trucks on the side.
